The charming and well-known Jonkershoek Valley valley lies 7 km. south-east of Stellenbosch and is less than an hour's drive from the center of C.Town. It is in the most popular wine growing district in S.A. and is surrounded by rugged and spectacular mountain peaks that form the catchment of the Eerste River , from which Stellenbosch draws its water.

At the end of this valley lies the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve with Its mountain trails managed by Cape Nature, and its pine plantations, managed by the commercila forestry company, MTO FORESTRY provides for an endless list of recreational opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. Its value to the urban dwellers as a Mecca for the mountain biker, the hiker, the mountaineer and the angler should never be underestimated.

At the end of the winding road into the valley is the MTO FORESTRY control gate where visitors can buy permits to enter the reserve. Apart from the mentioned facilities is also a scenic drive which can be driven with any standard sedan vehicle - it is a dirt road, circular and 10km in total.
